About Me

Francois Viljoen began his career in the financial services industry in 2003 with a focus on helping wealthy families achieve their goals. He joined IFC in 2007 and as Co-CIO oversees the firm’s Investment Committee, asset allocation and investment process, and client reporting.  His focus also includes investment analysis, investment manager selection, and performance reporting. Francois regularly meets with investment professionals to review the managers we invest with, new options and to stay abreast of current developments in the industry. Our team strives to ensure our clients’ portfolios prudently reflect their return and risk objectives in all market cycles.

Prior to IFC, Francois worked at Wells Fargo Advisors, Morgan Stanley and The Capital Group. 


Francois holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation and is a member of the CFA Society of Los Angeles. In 2018, 2019, 2020, 2023 & 2024 he was named to Forbes’ Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors list.* He is a graduate of the University of Pretoria, South Africa, where he earned a degree in Business with a focus in Accounting.

Francois was the captain of the USA National Rugby team and served on the Board of Directors of USA Rugby. He enjoys cycling and running and has completed a few marathons. Francois coached AYSO soccer and is involved at his church. He resides in Palos Verdes with his wife and two children.
