We’ve all heard about all of the latest diet and cleansing ‘fads’ out there – the ones that guarantee that you will lose 10 pounds in just a few short days without ever having to lift a finger. While I can neither promote nor devalue any of the cleanses currently on the market, I do know that in moderation, cleanses work to reset and re-balance your body to keep it working at optimum function.

Just as a body cleanse can boost a healthier lifestyle, a financial cleanse will help you to get into the best financial shape that you’ve ever been in.

  1. Be Intentional: Prior to any cleanse – body or financial – it is important to not only prepare yourself physically, but mentally as well. Sit down and think about what it is exactly that you want to accomplish with this cleanse. How long do you think the cleanse will need to last for in order to truly make an impact? Is it 30 days? 60 days? After you’ve set your intentions, commit to the cleanse.

  2. Stop Spending: During a body cleanse, you typically are advised to avoid certain and unnecessary foods. In a financial cleanse, you need to do just that with your money. Of course, it’s impossible to not spend any money as there’s always bills to pay but anything above and beyond the required bills should be avoided during a financial cleanse. Prior to the cleanse, separate your money into “buckets” – required and unnecessary. Completely eliminating any unnecessary spending will help you to reset your financial well-being.

  3. Incorporate Good Habits: Many people use a body cleanse as a way to re-establish their ‘healthy living’ goals. During a financial cleanse, this is a great time to reevaluate your financial goals and start living a healthier financial life. Not only will your bank account thank you, but it will help you to avoid the unnecessary stresses that you may face when dealing with your finances as well.

Cleanses can be great, in moderation to aid in healthier living – whether it be mind, body, or finances. Once you’ve assessed whether or not you could benefit from a financial cleanse, give me a call if you have any questions!
