What’s a better excuse to get everyone together than a party? If you’ve hosted a party or two, then you already know how quickly the total adds up. The decorations, place settings, food and beverages already send the cost skyrocketing. But what if you want a canopy tent or a bounce house for kids? What about fun activities or an even a tiki bar? Whether you’re planning a birthday, a graduation or even a holiday party there are easy ways to cut the costs. Here are some fun and easy ways you can save money and throw one heck of a party!

Invitations: Out with old in with the new! Nowadays there’s an app for everything. Including free invitations! Everyone is already on their phone and checking their emails constantly so use it and save some money. Let’s Flock, Evite, Punchbowl and even Facebook are a few ways you can send free invitations!

The Dollar Store: There are so many fun and neat things you can get at the Dollar Store. You can get plates, napkins, utensils, table covers and lots of different decorations. Think about the loads and loads of streamers you can get for almost nothing! And especially for kids’ birthday parties, you can find so many fun goodie-bag items that will load up the bags and put a smile on each one of their faces!

Go to the Park: Hosting a party at your own home can be very expensive and time-consuming. If you want to have an outdoor party then you have to supply the tables, chairs and a tent or canopy for some shade. Instead, reserve one of the lots at your local forest preserve. Each lot has picnic tables and a shelter with a roof. Plus most of them have grills so all you need is the food and the charcoals for the grill. Just be sure to reserve the lot a month or more in advance to make sure you get a great spot with all of the amenities. The best part, you get to go home to a clean house!

The Food: Besides beverages like alcohol, the food is the second most expensive item for a party. The one major party “no-no” is running out of food. Not only is it a huge party foul it can also be very embarrassing for you as a host. You don’t want to skimp on the food so how can you save some money and make it fun at the same time? Have the guests make their own food by setting up a pizza making station! This is where Costco or Sam’s Club becomes your best friend. You can purchase the pizza sauce, cheese and pre-made dough. If you don’t have a pizza oven, then use the grill. By using a grill it will cook the pizza twice as fast and make it fun for everyone!

The Booze: Picking a couple signature drinks for your party is one of the easiest ways to save on the alcohol costs. You want to make sure you have a variety and not just one. Not everyone has the same taste so you want to make sure you think of everyone else too. Here are a couple easy signature drinks you can make for everyone that are fun and easy: Sangria, Margaritas and Hurricanes. If you want to rent a margarita machine it will cost you roughly $150.00. Typically that also includes, delivery, setup and cleanup!

Planning a party or an event is not the easiest task. But you can make it easy, you can make it simple and you can have fun while you do it! Don’t be afraid to think out of the box but don’t over think it. It’s easy to get carried away and worry about every little detail, just remember the reason why you’re throwing the party and don’t let anything else get in the way. Raise your glass in celebration and enjoy spending time together with your loved ones! Let the party begin!

Take care and have fun planning your next party!
